Rogue Trooper: Quartz Zone Massacre

How can something so old feel so new?

   Now, if you owned pretty much any last gen console (Besides GC), you might have heard or played Rogue Trooper before. It's a third person shooter that didn't really get a lot of attention, being based on a European comic and all. However, this game feels right at home on the Wii.

   Now, the storyline is based on the comic, as Rogue, the main character and Genetic Infantryman, seeks revenge of his friends who died in the Quartz Zone Massacre. Lucky for him, he managed to get their 'biochip' from their body, which is pretty much their whole life. By inserting them into his equipment, he can talk to them and they can manage their host equipment. Ironically named, Gunnar pilots his gun, Bagman makes stuff from salvage in his bag, and Helm in his helmet can hack things.

   Anyway, this is a fun third person shooter. You move around and throw grenades with the nun-chuck, aim and shoot with the wiimote, and use your buddies abilities with + and -. The controls for the game feel great, being able to aim so well with the wiimote adds an extra edge for me. 

  The game itself  is great, not because of the amazing firefights, 11 levels of gameplay, or the multiple difficulties. It's the choice of attack that you have that makes it great. Maybe you want to do a whole assualt on an area. If you want to, just come out tossing grenades and blasting your shotgun. However, if you want, you can sneak around, snipe with a silencer, and snap some necks to get to your goal (and get bonus salvage). One thing I can say that isn't much of a downside, but more of a tease, is the multiplayer. 4 players can cooperate in co-op missions, teaming up and taking down enemies. However, there's only 5 levels. Other than that, this is a nice game to have in your Wii library!

This is a Wii Game that is actually GREAT!
